Samantha v. Impound: From tears to triumph

This entry is taking a slight detour away from the house (pun intended) and onto a more pressing subject: my stupidity.

Yesterday, in my rush to get to class, I parked on the street instead of my normal pattern of parking in the garage. After two hours of class, I ran to my Journal Appreciation Lunch completely forgetting that my car was on the street. Not only did I forget to feed the meter, I forgot to move my car at 4pm when rush hour starts and cars need to be moved.

When my evening class got out at 9pm, I realized my mistake and saw that my car had been towed! Luckily, my incredibly generous professor offered me a ride home. Michael is away at training in West Virginia so Jamie drove all the way from Arlington at 6am to take me to the impound lot in downtown Baltimore.

Although the towing ($237) and parking citation ($23) may have been a very expensive mistake, I confirmed what I already knew--I have the best brother on the face of the earth--and that is truly priceless.

The City of Baltimore has tried to break me, but I will not be defeated!!!
