Construction Code = Stupid Rules

I am a rules person so I understand the need for order and safety. Perhaps this is why I took the news of our first house setback a little better than Michael. You see, construction codes require four feet of space in front of the electrical panel. Unfortunately, our planned custom closet was set to go in the same area as the electrical panel, and unless we want a weird four foot space between the panel and the closet, the closet is a no go.

Yesterday, we braved the 100+ degree heat and humidity to check out the progress. (Where's the rain when you want it?)

Our house has a second level!

Here's the back second level:

Jamie and my parents!

Michael is still jealous of my hard hat.

Here, in another house that has the electrical box already in, you can see the tape measure going out to four feet. This means the closet would only be about 2/3 as wide (in the space on the right) so we aren't going to do the closet...at this time.

Where the closet would've gone in our house:

Jared, the other fabulous sales rep, makes his debut on our blog!

Anna and Jared always make sure the model house refrigerator is stocked with Diet Coke. We are very appreciative because Diet Coke makes us happy:
