He says the pity comes from the realization that he will not see me for the next two months. Literally won't see me--my classes are at night, begin before he gets home from work, and end after he goes to sleep. I have been wondering...can our newlywed status from the past two years be shifted to begin this fall when I actually have my life back from the grips of law school and the Bar exam? PLEASE?!
In light of the impending doom, we tried to have some fun in the past few weeks. On May 18, we participated in the Washington Post Hunt with Jamie and his friend Kara. Although we didn't win (the final clue had us stumped), we had a great day in the rain! (That's right. It rained.)
Then, on May 20, we headed to Carvel Ice Cream for a fundraiser for my mom's school. Michael and my dad waited outside as my mom, Jamie, and I scooped away.
We had a lot of fun! Jamie did a fantastic job scooping, and the students treated my mom like a rock star! It was so funny.
Here I am feeling comfortable, getting the hang of the fast paced ice cream business and actually starting to think this would be a viable backup plan should the whole lawyer thing not work out.
Of course, the competitive side to me wanted to learn everything there is to know about working in an ice cream shop. I learned how to dip cones in chocolate and then I tried my hand at making waffle cones!
It seemed quite easy at first when the guy showed me how to do it.
But then my cone did not turn out so well. Who knew there was an art to waffle cone making??? I guess I better pass the Bar exam.
Oh right. This blog is supposed to be about our house!!! Last I heard from my dad (who drives by the house regularly to give us updates) is that the concrete floor is in and the wood for framing is all lined up. Things seem to be progressing very well.
Finally, I would like to end with a quote from my Bar review materials:
"As harsh as this sounds, tell your friends and family that you love them, you need their help during the study period, but to expect nothing from you and please don't get offended. Bar prep must be your priority. Tell them you'll see them in two months--after the bar exam."
So...I will see you in two months! (Unless I need a break, in which case I will see you. Please don't tell my Bar review teachers I said that.)

Samantha, I (David) vote for ditching the whole law thing and opening an ice cream shop. I promise I will accompany you on all the buying trips and spare you all the calories by being the official taster. My bags are packed. So, don't take the studying thing too seriously - Uncle Bobby, Midge and I look forward seeing you and Michael and the house when you resurface!
Dear Samantha,
See you in two months. Call if you need food! Daddy will continue to email you and Michael "house updates."
Love,
Mommy
